The Robot
The robot looked about
‘I’ll go for a walk’
But his battery failed so it couldn’t even talk
A robot plane had wings
So that it would fly
But the battery failed so it couldn’t even try
The robot dog had a bark
So loud it could be heard
But the battery failed so it couldn’t say a word
You are not a robot
Can walk and talk and run
You don’t need a battery and you can have some fun
You can help each other
And I think that you will find
You don’t need a battery to learn how to be kind

My Nana
I love my Nana
But I wish I saw her more
She comes for a short visit
Then goes home as before
She lives a long way
From where we have our house
And when we travel in the car
We must be as quiet as a mouse
I know my Nana loves me
Not by what she says
But because she is kind
In very many ways
She can be quite strict
And tells me what I do wrong
But then, if I have listened
She isn’t cross for long
She reads me stories
Sometimes we play a game
She never changes
Her smile is just the same
I’m glad she is my Nana
I know her love is true
I wish that I could share her
With you! And you! And you!

Thank you again to M, for the picture and to the three children who read it so well.
Nana is 'big' when she is with him, but she becomes 'little' when she goes home. Why? Because then he can only picture her in his thoughts as she lives many miles away!
Send A Smile Picture 'Send a smile' by M aged 5 yrs
Read by M aged 5 yrs and A aged 8 yrs
Sit down and close your eyes
Sshh - say not one word
Listen - very carefully
Soon - 'quiet' can be heard
Think of a little girl or boy
In a country far away
Someone who has nothing
Who never gets to play
Then, send to that child
A smile - from you - today
Watch it travel through the sky
Yes, it will find its way
One day - you may need
Someone to smile or play
Remember - what you send
Will come back one day
Send a smile - send a smile
Make it bright as bright can be
Send it with this message
'With Love to you from me'
I've just listened to the three poems, 'The Robot', 'My Nana' and 'Send a Smile' in your 'Poems from Pictures' section. Not only do I love each of the poems but they are read so beautifully by the three children. What a fantastic idea - I still have a big, happy smile on my face after listening to them so the message of 'Send a Smile' is definitely true! I also thought the pictures which illustrated the poems were beautiful. It's great to see children's talents shared and celebrated across the world on a website like this. Thank you.
